Sad Day For Logandale
My mom and I were on our way to pick up some girls that we pick up for seminary. It was about 6:00 am and the girls get in the car and from there house we see a lot of smoke like not a little a lot, we also see flames. This early in the morning and with that much smoke we knew for sure this was nobody burning weeds. We knew it was a house. I saw the palm trees from the park and the fire was just across the street from that so I thought it was the church. But my mom was like no, no its not. She thought it looked further out where this family lives (like in the middle of no where) I still thought it was the church. So I asked my mom if we could take the highway to seminary to see what was going on. We made it to the corner of Whipple and MV Blv. And from there me and the other two girls could clearly tell it was the church. My mom, (driving) trying to deny the fact our church building was burning down. Saying, "No, no are you sure I don't think its the church." Sure enough early this morning our LDS church building was on fire. We found out some stuff, it started at about 4:00 am. They don't know how but investigators are working on it. The bishops wing was not as bad as the rest of the building and the bishops were able to save some stuff. Bishop Messer was able to grab I think 3 big scrapbooks from like way before when the church was built. And all the missionary plaks were saved. And some computers and monitors. I went there right after school because my mom was there helping by setting up food for all the firefighters. So I walked around the building. There were also just some like little things saved like a keyboard and some cabinets and a few hymn books and scriptures. But other then that everything was gone. You couldn't even tell what anything was. The chapel roof did cave in. So that was completely gone. It was weird and sad to walk around the outside looking at the burnt church I grew up in. And to see through the relief society window and see the burnt chairs leaning against the burnt and half knocked down wall where they always were. Now we will most likely going to Moapa for church every Sunday. All the kids at school would keep saying, "Is there still mutual tonight?" Sorry this is a long post and a lot of pictures...
